Initial brawls

Texas Roadhouse was established on 17 February 1993 at the Green Tree Mall in Indiana. The key person behind this huge restaurant chain giant was W. Kent Taylor. He was a local Louisville and lived in Colorado. Further, he worked at nightclubs and nearby restaurants. Kent came back to his hometown in 1990 and started work as a manager at Kentucky Fried Chicken. While he was working at restaurants, he had dreams of establishing a Colorado-themed restaurant. John Y. Brown, a former Kentucky Governor aided him to accomplish his dream by offering him $80,000. Therefore, he launched Buckhead Mountain Grill in 1991. He was working as a chef in his own venture.

After that, Brown Invested further money and Kent opened a second store in Clarksville. However, complications arose in the partnership leading to a fall. John chose another steak concept without Kent. John left him with the decision either to stay loyal to Buckhead or to start a new business. Kent decided to leave the venture and started working to open his business. In the initial stage, he faced some trouble in starting a new business because did not show interest in his concept.

After some time, Kent met with a possible investor while he was handling at Buckhead. Dr. John Rhodes keens in his plan for the new steak restaurant concept. In 1992, Kent convinced Rhodes along with two of his co-workers to spend $100,000 each. On 17 February 1993, he opened his first Texas Roadhouse restaurant in Clarksville, Indiana. In the subsequent year, Kent sold his share of Buckhead Mountain Grill to emphasise primarily his restaurant.

He figured out that by installing good décor, building design would help the restaurant expansion. He employed good chefs who can work in different locations Louisville, Kentucky and Jim Broyles.

After substantial changes, the chain grew at a very fast pace in the late 1990s. Kent had opened over 67 restaurants by the end of 1999. In the early 2000s, it was officially announced as a public company.  In 2011, the company raised its hands in the international market and opened its first international location in Dubai. During the phase of COVID-19, Kent donated his whole salary and bonus to his employees, totalling over $800,000. At present, the company is dealing in over 655 locations, 627 across the country and 29 internationally.
